Failure patterns of soil cutting slope According to the scale of failures, the phenomenon of failures in soil cutting can be divided into two main categoriesa) Bench face failureThe main types of bench face failure include surface erosion and surface slumping. Erosion is the phenomenon of rainwater runoff on the slope carrying away loose particles from the slope due to dynamic action, often forming striped gullies on the slope surface. Overall slope collapse and landslide are both slope failure. Continuous tension cracks and sinking at the top or upper part of a soil slope, or bulging in the middle or lower part of a slope, are signs of overall slope failure. In general, this type of failure occurs during or after the rainy season. In the case of weak substrates, the slope failure is often combined with the failure to the substrate. For this type of failure, forecasting should be strengthened during the warning period to prevent accidents from occurring unawares.
