IntroductionReading is very important in our life, since the 1970s, studies in English reading and writing have shifted their main concern from teachers’ teaching to students’ learning. Increasing numbers of studies have seen undertaken from the students’ perspective. These students have uncovered the fact that learners can be trained to take more responsibility for how and what they learn. It is thought that much of the responsibility for successful language learning depends on language learning’s individual ability to learn rather than teacher’s ability to teach. Therefore, many linguists and researchers focus their study upon the notion of language strategies. And the fact has been uncovered that learning strategies play an important part in successful language learning. At the same time, many researchers and studies on senior middle school students’ English learning have been done on the basis of learning strategies, but few of them are on learning strategies application to English reading.In fact, reading ability is one of the most important skills that students must improve in senior middle School. Besides, reading is an important and useful approach to the English language learning, reading texts provide good models for English writing. They also provide opportunities to better vocabulary, grammar, punctuation, and the way we construct sentences, paragraphs and texts.Therefore, each student should become a competent reader, but the fact is that most students fail to reach the goal of reading proficiency, they seem to read in English with less capacity of understanding and a lower rate than they read in their mother tongue. They vary significantly in their reading ability although they study in the same classroom and are supervised by the same English teacher. Some of them are more successfully than others in reading.
