Human ovarian cancer multidrug resistance genes and multidrug resistance-associated protein expression and clinical significance

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 12 Human ovarian cancer multidrug resistance genes and multidrug resistance-associated protein expression and clinical significance [Keywords:] ovarian cancer [Abstract] ObjectiveTo study the relationship between the expression of multidrug resistance gene (MDR1, multidrug resistance protein (MRP with the clinical pathological characteristics and the prognosis in the ovarian cancer patients who never received chemotherapy before operation.MethodsThe expression of MDR1 and MRP in 68 cases of ovarian cancer and 20 normal ovary tissue were investigated by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR.ResultsIn normal ovary and ovarian cancer, the positive of MDR1 was 0 and 35.2%, the positive of MRP was 10.7% and 49.9% respectively . MDR1 and MRP showed significant relationship to the clinical stage and the differentiation of the tumor (P lt;0.05, but no significant relationship to the histological type (Pgt; 0.05.The non responders to combination chemotherapy exhibited higher rations of MDR1 and MRP expression than the responders (P lt;0.05.ConclusionMulitple gene expression is involved in drug resistance in ovarian cancer. The expression of MDR1 or MRP is higher in ovarian cancer than that in normal ovary tissue. The expression of MDR1 and MRP is closely related to the tumor differentiation and the response to chemotherapy. [Keywords:] ovarian neoplasms; genes expression; MDR1; MRP Ovarian cancer is cancer of female reproductive system, the main one, the mortality rate ranks first in gynecologic cancer, accounting for female cancer mortality in the first five patients. The treatment of ovarian cancer chemotherapy is the main aid, but the cancer cells resistant to severe impede the performance of anticancer drugs to play. domestic and international research shows that the tumor resistance involving reduced intracellular drug concentration, drug target molecules changes, metabolic detoxification, DNA repair mechanisms and o
