Thefocusofthispaperistogiveabetterunderstandingofbeatphenomenoninthefreevibrationtestofaconcretebeamwith piezoelectricceramicsensorsfromtheviewofmathematics.Thecauseofbeatphenomenonfrompiezoelectricceramicsensors embeddedintheconcretebeamisillustratedandthein?uencefactorsofbeatphenomenonarediscussed.Theresultsshowthat thebeatphenomenonfrompiezoelectricceramicsensorsintheconcretebeamiscausedbythecoupledresponseswithsimilar modelfrequenciesindi?erentdirections.Thein?uencefactorsofbeatphenomenonduetodampinge?ect,impactdirection, sensorpositionandsectionaldimensionarediscussed.Asthedampingratiosincreased,theamplitudeofbeatsignalwilldieout inanexponentialdecay.Meanwhile,thedampinghasatinyin?uenceonthebeatfrequencyofsystemresponse,theamplitudesof beatsignalbothinthetimeandfrequencydomainarechangedwiththevariationofimpactdirection.Inaddition,theamplitude ofbeatsignalwillbealsochangedwiththepositionofsensorsaltered.Thebeatfrequencywillgetmorewiththegreaterdi?erence ofsectionaldimension. 1.Introduction monitoring at early ages.
