Background.TheaimofthisstudywastoevaluatetheroleandimpactofEUSinthemanagementofcriticallyillpatients.Methods. Weretrospectivelyidenti?edallpatientsatourinstitutionovera68-monthperiodinwhombedsideinpatientEUSwasperformed. EUSwasconsideredtohaveasigni?cantimpactifanewdiagnosiswasestablishedand/orthe?ndingsalteredsubsequentclinical management.Results.Fifteenpatients(9male;meanage58±15years)underwentbedsideEUSwithoutcomplications.EUS-FNA (median4passes;range2–7)performedin12(80%)demonstratedamalignantmediastinalmass/lymphnode(5),pancreatic abscess(1),excludedapelvicabscess(1),establishedenlargedgastricfoldsasbenign(1)andexcludedmalignancyinenlarged mediastinal(1)andportahepatisadenopathy(1).Intwopatients,EUS-FNAfailedtodiagnosemediastinalhistoplasmosis(1) andahemorrhagicpancreaticpseudocyst(1).InthreediagnosticexamswithoutFNA,EUScorrectlyexcludedcholedocholithaisis (n=1)andcholangiocarcinoma(1),andfoundgastricvaricessuccessfullythrombosedafterpreviouscyanoacrylateinjection(1). EUSwasconsideredtohaveanimpactin13/15(87%)patients.Conclusions.Inthisseries,bedsideEUSincriticallyillpatientswas tech
