Bojesodok-eum(BSE)isaherbalprescriptionconsistingofCoptidisRhizomaandScutellariaeRadixasmaincomponents.This paper investigated the e?ects of BSE on the induction of nitric oxide (NO), prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), and proin?ammatory cytokinesthatarecausedbylipopolysaccharide(LPS)inmurinemacrophagecelllineandonthepawedemaformationinanimals. AdministrationofBSE(0.3g/kgand1g/kg)inratssigni?cantlyinhibitedcarrageenan-inducedpawedemaformation,asdid dexamethasone,ananti-in?ammatorypositivecontroldrug.Incellmodel,treatmentofBSEdecreasedtheproductionofNO andPGE2inRAW264.7cellsstimulatedbyLPS.BSEalsoinhibitedtheexpressionofiNOSandCOX-2proteinaswellasCOX activityinaconcentration-dependentmanner.Consistently,BSEsuppressedtheabilityofLPStoproduceTNF-α ,interleukin- 1β,andi
