Abstr Abstract 万方数据 万方数据 This is a reflective research report based on the translation of three different domestic service contracts: the service contracts of home nursing, household cleaning and family education. Today in the 21st century, in order to keep up with the development trend of international market, China is obliged to boost the domestic service industry which serves as the sunrise industry in tertiary sector, and thus the translation of domestic service contracts plays an important role in protecting contracting parties’ rights and interests and guaranteeing the performance of obligations. The author puts the research perspective on the translation of such texts, which has certain practical significance. In the course of translation, an important task of translators is to adopt corresponding translation principles and methods in accordance with the types of source texts. Only the translators make accurate judgment on the types and styles of the source texts, can they choose the right translation principles and methods to handle diverse translation materials. Based on the translation of three different domestic service contracts, namely, Advanced Domestic Personnel Employment Contract, Cleaning Service Contract and Domestic Service Contract of Home Nursing, this reflective research report generalizes the encountered translation problems into four categories: professional terms, sentence patterns, stylistic characteristics and text types, and quotes the concrete examples to demonstrate and analyze such problems. Furthermore, some specific translation skills and methods, for instance, sequence translation, reverse translation and synthetic translation, are also used to help solve the translation problems.
