I I ABSTRACT This is a translation report of Glasses which is a short story of Henry James. The translator selects Chapter Eight to Chapter Thirteen to translate, and summarizes what she has learned from the translation process and the difficulties met in the process. So far, there isn‘t any Chinese translation version of Glasses. What‘s more, this novel has high literary value. So it‘s important to translate it, from which Chinese readers can not only enjoy this novel, but also know western culture and western literature better. During the process of translation, the translator mainly takes the functional equivalence theory by Eugene Nida as guidance and adopts many kinds of translation skills to handle the difficulties in the translation. At last, on the basis of the translation practice, the translator sums up her understanding of literary translation and the comprehensive quality that translators should possess.
