Abstract
Listening is the basic condition of language acquisition. Meanwhile listening comprehension test is of great importance in testing English learners’ listening competence. Multiple-choice (MC) as an effective testing technique is widely used in listening comprehension tests. According to statistics of the previous five years’ National Matriculation English Tests, only four provinces have used some different types of testing techniques other than MC in listening part. In the resent twenty years, researches home and abroad have focused on the disadvantages of MC. Among them, the viewpoint that MC facilitates students’ guessing behavior, reduces the difficulty of tests and tends to produce error scores gets the most concern.
