On December 18, 2013, Journal of the American Medical Association published online the eighth Group Report of the Joint National Committee on Prevention,Detection,Evaluation and Treatment of High Blood Pressure (JNC8), namely 2014 Evidence-Based Guideline for the Management of High Blood Pressure in Adults. It strictly follows the evidence from randomized controlled trials to recommend the treatment of hypertension in adult thresholds, targets and intervention methods, and it also answered three core questions and provided nine recommendations. Hypentension remains one of the most important preventable contributors to disease and death,therefore, the translator hopes that the translation report can provide some reference and guidance for the prevention and treatment of hypertension in China. The perspective of this report is communicative translation theory. The new guideline contains nine recommendations and a treatment flow chart to help doctors treat patients with hypertension. According to Newmark’s text type theory, the original text belongs to informative text and applies to communicative translation theory. The theory emphasizes that the target readers and original readers should get the same reading experience, rather than the restrictive translation of word by word or sentence by sentence.
