There are a lot of things to be done. She has three children to look after. Practice is the only way to learn a foreign language well. It’s time to go to bed. There is no need to worry at all. 不定式作状语 不定式作状语可表示目的、结果、原因等意义。 1) 表目的 Eat to live, but not live to eat. He worked hard to catch up with his classmates. In order to get the money for higher education, he did a lot of odd jobs. The old man put on his glasses so as to see more clearly. 2) 表结果 The news is too good to be true. My brother is old enough to take care of himself. I hurried to the station only to find that the train had left. 3) 表原因 I am so sorry to have made such a stupid mistake. To hear him talk in that manner, you would think he is a foreigner. She jumped with joy to hear the news. 4) 有些不定式可用来修饰整个句子，可称作句子状语，由逗号与句子的其余部分隔开，用以表示说话人的态度。 To be honest, I just don’t like him. To be frank, you’re a bad driver. (6) 不定式作表语 His hobby is to collect stamps. Her only wish is to do something for the public. All you have to do is to listen to the teacher carefully. The important thing is not to wrong any person. (7) 不定式的完成式、进行式和被动式 不定式的完成形式 当不定式表示的动作在谓语所表示的动作之前发生，就需要用不定式的完成式。例如： What a mistake it is to have come here! I am sorry to have given you so much trouble. He felt ashamed to have done such a thing. She seemed to have lost her patience. 2) 不定式的进行形式 当不定式表示一个正在进行的动作时需用进行式。例如： What a shame to be wasting your time like that! The man hates to be quarrelling with her. He pretended to be reading when I came in. 3) 不定式的被动形式 Books and magazines are not allowed to be taken out of the reading room. He hates to be flattered. She was the first one to be asked to speak.
