Unit2 Wildlife Protection Teaching design of Reading and Thinking Teaching aims: Improve the awareness of wildlife protection by acquiring the knowledge of wildlife protection. Focus on environmental protection and protection of all lives. Analyze the living environment of wild animals with appropriate thinking mode. Skillfully use the vocabulary and grammar knowledge of this unit to cultivate self-study ability according to the unit content. Develop cooperative learning ability through discussion and other ways. Teaching important and difficult points: Enable the students to talk about the current situation of wild animals. Help the students learn what effort has been made to change the serious situation and what else should be done. Teaching procedures: Step1 Lead-in Let’s watch a short video. From the video we see many rhinoceros, sharks and elephants are killed, feeling sorry and sad. Every rhinoceros horn, every fur, every bowl of shark fin soup, every ivory product, consumed by human beings , are innocent wild animals slaughtered behind them. They shouldn’t be hunted and instead should be well protected. So we can say : When the buying stops, the killing can too. Step2 Skimming Today, I will take you to Tibet and learn something about the antelopes. Are you interested in it? Yes, here we go. A day in the clouds. Listen to the tape carefully and answer the two questions: Q1 What does “Clouds” refer to in the title? Tibet Q2 What type of text is it? A narrative or a travel journey? A travel journey Step3 Scanning (Detailed reading) This step, let’s analyze the passage from 4 parts: where who problems solutions Read the passage carefully and try to complete the Mind Map.
