Background.Recentadvancesincomputationalandbiologicalmethodsinlasttwodecadeshaveremarkablychangedthescale ofbiomedicalresearchandwithitbegantheunprecedentedgrowthinboththeproductionofbiomedicaldataandamountof publishedliteraturediscussingit.Anautomatedextractionsystemcoupledwithacognitivesearchandnavigationserviceover thesedocumentcollectionswouldnotonlysavetimeande?ort,butalsopavethewaytodiscoverhithertounknowninformation implicitlyconveyedinthetexts.Results.Wedevelopedanovelframework(named“BioEve”)thatseamlesslyintegratesFaceted Search(InformationRetrieval)withInformationExtractionmoduletoprovideaninteractivesearchexperiencefortheresearchers inlifesciences.Itenablesguidedstep-by-stepsearchqueryre?nement,bysuggestingconceptsandentities(likegenes,drugs,and diseases)toquickly?lterandmodifysearchdirection,andtherebyfacilitatinganenrichedparadigmwhereusercandiscover relatedconceptsandkeywordstosearchwhileinformationseeking.Conclusions.TheBioEveSearchframeworkmakesiteasier toenablescalableinteractivesearchoverlargecollectionoftextualarticlesand
