安徽安徽财经大学硕士学位论文 PAGE PAGE 3 PAGE PAGE 4 STUDY ON STATUS AND UPGRADING OF CHINAS MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY ABSTRACT This paper will discuss three problems about Chinas manufacturing industries from the micro perspective. Such as which role China is playing in the world specialization system, why technic upgrading is important for China and what method we can take in order to improve our capability in RD. First, this paper uses the input-output tables, which are offered by OECD, to analyze Chinas participating degree of the world specialization system in terms of input aspect and export aspect. What is more, by comparing the differences between the two results, we can conclude the status of China in the system. The results reveal that in general, China is stacked in the sandwich economy and shows some evidence that it is locked in the low-end. Except a few industries such as IT, most of Chinas manufacturing industries are more and more depend on foreign industries, even in some industries that China used to have advantage in them. Second, we analyze the foundations of inter-products trade and find that comparative advantage and economies of scale can still the source of gains from trade. Then, based on Antràs results, this paper builds an model which confirms that the ownership of brand has nothing to do with obtaining profit. Companies that own core technologies are the organizer of the world specialization system and can gain most profit of it. On the other hand, companies that do not have core technologies will get no profit from their job, no matter they are final goods producer or components supplier. So, Chinas manufacturing industries have to get core technologies in order to gain profit. Third, this paper builds a general model to analyze the mechanism of Chinas manufacturing industries upgrading under the background of outsourcing and FDI respectively. Then, we focus our attention on OFDI. And then we use Haier, Huawei and TCL as case study to analyze the
