青海大学医学院 青海大学医学院 2009 级攻读临床医学硕士研究生毕业论文 第 第 PAGE 10 页 共 34 页 Evaluation of the quality of life of patients with irritable bowel syndrome in middle school students Abstract Objective The study is to preliminary understand the disease situation of patients with irritable bowel syndrome in middle school and investigate their present life situation and the main factors that affect it, in order to provide comprehensive basis for finding out the appropriate treatment,intervention measures,reasonable distribution of health resources and improve the health standards for the students at last. Methods 307 IBS patients and 587 Non-IBS as control were collected from epidemiological survey before. Gastrointestinal symptoms were measured by Questionnaire of severity and frequency index of symptom. Their current quality of life were measured by the disease-specific form included in the questionnaire of QOL(IBS-QOL) and evaluated by Mann-Whitney Test. As for the QOL of IBS patients, Multiple Correlation Analysis was applied to analyze the relevance between scores of QOL and scores of gastrointestinal symptoms, Mann-Whitney Test was applied to analyze the differences between the male and female, between the urban and the rural areas, Kruskal-Wallis Test was applied to analyze the differences among six grades and four IBS subtypes. Results 1) There were no statistically significant differences between IBS and Non-IBS groups in aspects of sex, educational level, and distribution according to areas(P＞0.05); 2) As for the current QOL, IBS patients in middle school got significantly lower scores than the controls (Non-IBS) on all subscales and overall score of IBS-QOL(P＜0.01); 3) The scores of patients on IBS-QOL subscales except Role Emotional (RE) were negatively associated with symptom frequency , symptom degree and symptom total scores(P＜0.05); The patients had no significant difference among IBS subtypes except on Mental Health(MH) and Interference with activity(P＞0.05); 4) The fe
