NGAL present in the peroxidase - negative granules of neutrophils, and widely distributed in the human tissue cells, such as bronchial, stomach, small intestine, pancreas, kidney, prostate, thymus, etc. The study showed that NGAL transports hydrophobic small molecule, regulates activity of MMP-9, transports in vivo iron and may be involved in the immune and tumor development, especially in the process of tumor invasion and metastasis. Recent studies found a very close relationship between NGAL and kidney. The iron transporter that was mediated by NGAL stimulated the original early kidney mesangial cells differentiating into renal epithelial cells, which initiates the deve
