Generally，the work flow to manufacture dies and moulds includes quoting price， designing ， fabricating ， testing and after-sale service ， so it is usually use project management to organize production. However，the production procedure is dynamic and changeable because the customers’ order is unpredictable and the manufacture process depends on the experience. it is difficult to control the project progress，cost，and the quality . In order to solve the problems mentioned above and improve the management，it is necessary for die mould companies to develop the special project management system. According to the surveying of die and mould manufacturing business flow and its architecture，investigations on die and mould project management are made based on project process control，quality management and cost management; then the project management system is designed. Aiming at the characteristics of multiple projects during the production of dies moulds，the principles of concurrent engineering，network planning technology and gantt-graph are applied to implement project plan. In order to improve the ability of process control ， bar-code-based information collecting and message-based mechanisms are adopted to monitor the work process and the exception events. In addition，the key technology of process quality control in QIS is studied，which includs collecting of quality information、dealing with unqualified process and analysing of statistic data. Based on this，the functional requirements of project management for dies mould companies are modeled with the UML method. Furthermore，the database structure is determined to manage the production data according to the characteristics of data flow.
