Before exerting its metabolic effects,vitamin D undergoes two successive hydroxylations. ? The first hydroxylation converts vitamin D to 25- hydroxyvitamin D （羟维生 素 D ） , ? the second to the main active hormonal form, 1,25- ? dihydroxyvitamin D [1,25(OH)2D, calcitriol 骨化三醇 ]. ? 1,25(OH )2D is known to regulate the expression of over 200 different genes, including the ones related to apoptosis （细胞凋亡） and immune modulation 免疫调节 What is type 1 diabetes ? The exact cause of type 1 diabetes is unknown. Most likely it is an autoimmune disorder . An infection or some other trigger causes the body to mistakenly attack the cells in the pancreas that make insulin. This kind of disorder can be passed down through families. Evidence ?
