Dr.Goldstein:The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) is the statistical offi ce of the US Department of Education.NCES has no responsibility for national educational development, as that is the responsibility of the states and local school districts.NCES, however, provides a valuable service to those who undertake educational development, by collecting and publishing information about all aspects of education in the country.Our parent office within the Department, the Institute of Education Sciences, sponsors research conducted by universities, research firms, and others, into various aspects of education. University:How does NCES collect and manage the amounts of statistics?Who provides the expenditures for the Center?
