Project Manager of Quality Assurance Room Dongshih Farmers’ Hospital, Taiwan ，China) Abstract: Purpose: Injury has been the top five leading causes of death for over a decade, however, the awareness of injury prevention and safety promotion (IP/SP) continues to neglect in Taiwan. This paper describes using established networks and peer education to build a learning network for communities to adopt Safe Community model and raise the awareness of IP/SP in rural areas in central Taiwan. Method: From May to December 2007, an initiative was conducted by well-experienced practitioners from Dungshr Safe Community who teamed up with two mentors who have good community rapport and built a learning network model for rural communities.
