Abstract: Grammar-Translation Method was the main method of teaching foreign language in China, due to communicative, natural law and law teaching theory heard that the emergence of grammar-translation method of teaching are excluded. Article on the status of grammar teaching, from the nature of syntax, grammar, and interpersonal skills of the relationship between the traditional teaching of grammar and development trend of the shortcomings in terms of grammar teaching on the necessity and feasibility were discussed.

Abstract: Grammar-Translation Method used to be the main method in foreign language teaching in China, it is excluded because ofhe appearance of Communicative Approach, Natural Method and Audio-Lingual Method. This paper analyzes the essential aspects and theeveloping tendency of grammar and the drawbacks of traditional grammar teaching method, compares the difference of linguistic competenceand communicative competence, probes the possibility and necessity of grammar teaching.
