Methods:AstudywascarriedoutwithfiveprimiparouscowsfedaCLAsupplementeddietcomparedtofive primiparouscowswithoutCLAsupplementation.CLAsupplementedcowsreceived7.5gCLA/day(i.e.50%cis(c)9, trans(t)11-and50%t10,c12-CLA)startingtwoweeksbeforeexpectedcalvingand20gCLA/day(i.e.50%c9,t11- and50%t10,c12-CLA)throughoutday1to28oflactation. Results:TheCLAsupplementwasinsufficientlyacceptedbytheanimals:only61.5%oftheintendedamountwas ingested.FedCLAweredetectableinmilkfat,whereascontentsofc9,t11-CLAandt10,c12-CLAinmilkfatwere higherforCLAsupplementedcowscomparedtothecontrolgroup.Onaverageovertheentiretreatmentperiod, therewasadecreaseofsaturatedfattyacids(FA)inmilkfatofCLAsupplementedcows,combinedwithahigher contentofmonounsaturatedandtransFA. Ourstudyrevealednosignificanteffectsofc9,t11-andt10,c12-CLAsupplementationeitheronmilkyieldandcom- positionoronmetabolickeyparametersinblood.Furthermoretheexperimentdidnotindicatesignificanteffects ofc9,t11-andt10,c12-CLA-supplementationongeneexpressionofperoxisomeproliferator-activatedreceptor-alpha (PPARa),PPARg,sterolregulatoryelement-bindingprotein-1andtumornecrosisfactor-alphainlivertissue. Conclusions:Feedingc9,t11-andt10,c12-CLAduringthefirstweeksaftercalvingdidnotaffectmetabolickey parametersofbloodserumormilkcompositionoffreshcows.Milkfattyacidcompositionwaschangedby feedingc9,t11-andt10,c12-CLAresult
