全球化时代的翻译及翻译研宄:定义、功 能及未来走向 上海交通大学人文艺术研究院清华大学外文系 在当今的全球化时代，虽然随着英语的普及,人们在很大程度上可以直接用英语 进行交流了。但尽管如此，翻译的作用依然存在，而且会变得愈益重要。这就有必 耍对传统的翻译定义进行重构。本文从雅各布森的语言学定义切入对之进行质疑, 并从七个方面对翻译作了全新的界定。作者认为，我们之所以要重新界定翻译并 非是为了全然摈弃己有的各种定义，而是要在己有的定义之基础上保留其合理的 内核，并不断地加以必要的和有选择的扬弃、补充和修正，使其最终臻于完善。另 一方而，既然（文学艺术的）翻译带有很大的创造性和建构性因素，那么翻译就永 远是一个未完成的过程，对翻译的任何界定和重新界定都是不可避免的,它的最 终目的之一就是要使研究翻译的这门学科更加完备。因此就这一点而言，木文对 翻译所作的重新定义在某种程度上是基于中国视角以及跨中西文化对话的视角 对雅各布森定义的质疑和重构。翻译研究也是如此，它不单单属于语言学或比较 文学，而应该是一个独立的学科，它应该同时与人文社会科学乃至自然科学各相 关学科进行对话。 关键词： 全球化;翻译;定义;功能;未来; 主要研 宄方向：现当代西方文学与文论、比较文学及翻译研宄。 基金：作者扪任首席专家的国家社会科学基金重人招标项0 “马克思主义与世界 文学研宂（批准号：14ZDB082, 2014-2019） ”的阶段性成果Translation in the Age of Globalization: Definition, Function and Future Orientation Wang Ning Abstract： In the current age of globalization people are to a large extent able to communicate in English along with the popularization of the lingua franca. The function of translation, however, still exists and will become increasingly important. Thus it is necessary to re-define translation and reconstruct this traditional concept. The present article starts with questioning Roman Jakobson’s linguistic definition of translation in an attempt to redefine it from seven aspects. To the author, redefining translation does not necessarily mean writing off all the established definitions, but rather, it will continuously add new things while keeping their reasonable kernel ideas so as to make it as perfect as possible. On the other hand, since ( literary and art) translation bears many creative and constructive elements, the process of translation is for ever an incompleted one. It is therefore necessary to redefine translation, which is aimed to make translation studies more accomplished. In this sense, the present article tries to question Jakobson’s definition from a Chinese and cross-cultural perspective and reconstruct it.
