Abstract At present, the proportion of translation introduction and output in China is extremely disproportionate. The large number of foreign literary works have been translated into Chinese, and the theoretical concepts of Western thought are almost synchronous with their corresponding research in China. What is truly unfortunate is that excellent cultures, good literary works and philosophical writings havent been timely presented to the outside world. Even the essence of Chinese civilization still hasnt been fully translated. With the continuous development of Chinas opening-up to the outside world, output translations are becoming increasingly important. Especially in the publicity of characteristic cultures to the Western world, translation is a bridge between cultural exchanges. As a unique Chinese literary form, Chinese couplet is the quintessence of Chinese culture. The author of this paper believes that the English translation of the Chinese couplet should not be just limited to the translation of some famous couplets, and it is not simply to render it into another language, more importantly it should reflect the characteristics of Chinese culture to the foreigners, hence to expand the influences of our national culture and gain a place in the international culture fusion. Based on the essential features of the Chinese couplets, from the perspective of aesthetic representation, this paper carries out a in-depth study on Chinese couplet translation. The author proposes aesthetic reproduction methods in Chinese couplet translation. It is believed that the priority of aesthetic reproduction in Chinese couplet should be the reproduction of its form and meaning, simultaneously. And then it comes to the sound. The reproduction of Chinese couplets cultural image and poetic feeling can be considered after the above form, meaning and sound features having been satisfied.
