翻译史研究:不囿于文学翻译一一《中国 翻译家研究》前言 方梦之庄智象 上海大学上海外国语大学 摘要： 近百年來，屮国翻译史研究以文学翻译和文学翻译家为核心。本文阐明《屮国翻 译家研究》的编撰思想和编撰策略。作者认为，翻译史研究要进一步深化，必须挖 掘并弘扬与我国社会进步、文化昌盛、经济繁荣、科学发展等密切相关的翻译史 料和翻译家,呈现翻译史上被忽略、被遮蔽的重要史实，实现由文学翻译史向思想 文化交流史研究的转向。翻译史的研究对象主要是译者，而不是译文，因为只有译 者才会有社会担当。《屮国翻译家研究》对屮国自古至今有代表性的93位翻译 家作了个案描述，其中包括许渊冲、余光中两位健在的翻译家。这些翻译家分别 献身于我国的宗教翻译、文学翻译、科技翻译或社科翻译。该书以翻译实践家为 对象，顺顾个别翻译理论家和翻译赞助人。 关键词： 中国翻译史;翻译家;文学翻译;科学翻译; 作者简介：方梦之，上海大学外国语学院教授，研究方向:应用翻译理论与实践、 译学辞典编撰； 作者简介：庄智象，上海外国语大学教授、博导，研究方向:应用语言学、外语教 育。 收稿日期:2016-02-29 基金：上海文化发展基金会图书出版2015年第1期“中国翻译家研究”项目专 项资助 Research on Translation History Should not be Res trie ted by Lit erary Translation—Preface to Studies of Chinese Translators Abstract： Research on Chinese translation history has focused on literary translation and literary translators for the recent century. This paper illustrates the thoughts and strategies of compilation of the Studies of Chinese Translators. The authors believe that if we make study in a decpgoing way， it is nccessary to cxploit,gather and digest historical materials for translation related to social progress, economic prosperity and science development in China so as to take a turn leading the research onto intercultural communication history. They also hold that the central object of the research on translation history is translator, not the text of translation，as only the translator could have a strong sense of responsibility for social progress. Studies of Chinese Translators prestnt 93 typical Chinese translators devoting themselves to religious translation, 1iterary translation,sci-tech translation or social sciences translation in China from ancient times to the modern era, including two cxisting figures Xu Yuan-chong and Yu Guang-zhong. The book, while focusing on the practitioners, also does justice to a few patrons and theoreticians.
