Unit 7 How much are these socks?
Section A(1a-1c)
Teaching aims:
1. Master the new words : socks ,T-shirt ,shorts ,sweater, bag , hat, trousers, shoes, jacket, skirt.(Talk about clothing.)
2.Master the phrases :How much (Ask about prices.)
3.Master the sentence structure: A: How much is this T-shirt?
B:It’s seven dollars.
A: How much are these socks?
B: They’re two dollars.
4.Improve the Ss’ speaking, listening, creating skills.
Teaching importances and difficulties:
1.Master the key words and expressions.
2.Be able to talk about shopping and price.
3.Educate Ss to cherrish what they have and be polite.
Teaching methods:
Listening and speaking practice.
Autonomous and cooperative approach.
Teaching procedures:
Ⅰ. Warming- up
Lead-in.
1)Share the story The Little Match Girl in English with Ss with music Kiss the rain.
2)Ss talk about what they can do for the lillle match girl.
3)Ss draw their gifts for the little match girl and teacher shares the gifts she has prepared for the girl.
Ⅱ. Presentation
1.Teach the new words.
1)Show the pictures of clothing and price tag.
2)Learn the new words together.
3)Have a chant with the new words.
2.Activity 1a.
1)Ask Ss to look at 1a and match the words with the pictureS.Then check the answers together.
2)Learn the sentences in the picture.
3)Lead Ss to summarize the sentence patter to ask the price.
3.Activity 1b.
Ask Ss to read the instructions of 1b so that they know what to do in this part. Then play the rocording twice. At the first time, Ss listen and circle the wrods they hear and at the second time, Ss check their answers.
Ⅲ.Practice
1.Activity 1c.
1)Ask Ss to read through the sample conversation in the box first.
2)Ask Ss to practice reading the onversation in pairs. Then make their own conversation with their gifts they draw on the paper to the little match girl.
3)Invite some pairs to share their conversations.
